Mandy made me touch the trig beacon!

Who Am I?

I am proudly South African, a Boy Scout to the core, a keen hiker, drinker of Scotch, lover of crystal glasses, Salmon, Sushi, computers, radio, braai, and a host of other vices;)

I was involved with Scouts South Africa in the Cape Eastern area for many years.  I retired in 2015 after running the PLTU course in the Eastern Cape.  I was primarily involved in adult leader training, but dabble at a few events in the year too!  To scouting people I am known as Sarki…as in “Sarki little bastard

Programmer by day…I am a self employed computer programmer involved in agricultural software mostly.  Mobile apps and websites too – but only when I have to!  I enjoy firebird database and usually use Delphi, VB, or C# for apps, and PHP/MySQL when on the web.  As for mobile apps, there is only Android – everything else is fake 😉

ZS2DH: QTH is Port Elizabeth, South Africa.  In the shack I have an ICOM-IC-7000 and an ICOM rig for VHF.  An a QRP enthusiast, I have an X-1-M, an 817, and a Q-Mac.  Oh, and a bunch of handhelds too.

Antenna-wise, an inverted V for HF, a colinear for VHF and one of those ever-popular AMSAT Yagi’s for satellite work.
